Bosch Ascenta SHE3AR55UC Dishwasher Pros & Cons
- 14 place settings
- Delay start feature – 3, 6, or 9 hour delay
- 4 wash cycles
- Sanitize setting
- Quiet, rated at 50 decibels
- Energy Star rated (of course)
- Does not have an adjustable upper rack, which is a big drawback for me because I like flexibility in a dishwasher to fit odd-sized dishes, lunch boxes, or other washable household items in the machine as efficiently as possible.
- No water softener feature, which could be a deal-breaker if you have hard water.
- No “Power Scrub” feature; other Bosch dishwashers have this feature for a slightly higher price than this model.
Dishes come out squeaky clean and hot. However, the lack of a couple of key convenience and performance features makes this dishwasher fall just short of the Bosch standard. For the brand, it is definitely a lesser model. But for dishwashers in this price range, it’s right where it should be in terms of features and performance.

Bosch dishwasher model SHX55R55UC review:
OK, OK, I’ll admit it right off the bat…
I love Bosch dishwashers. I love the brand. So slick, and such quality. But as with all of my product reviews, I will push aside my personal bias and take an objective look at the machine.
What is so great about this dishwasher, and is the Bosch 500 series really worth the money? Let’s have a look at this bad boy:
The Bosch dishwasher is a looker alright. The days of ugly appliances are long over. The Bosch SHX55R55UC would look stunning in any kitchen.
But what else does it have to offer?
First, it’s super quiet. This can be a huge selling point for many reasons. You like to run it at night and go to bed. You like to entertain and it’s annoying to have to talk over the dishwasher noise. A lot of dishwashers are quite loud, and if you run it once or twice a day on a regular basis, a quiet dishwasher would be a luxury worth having.
Next, the cleaning job this particular Bosch 500 Series dishwasher does is superior to other machines. Super clean dishes. ‘Nuff said.
Its efficiency is another plus. You will most likely see your water bill go down with this model, especially if you haven’t upgraded in a while.
It’s got the capacity for 14 place settings, and that’s a good sized dishwasher. I have one of the slick little small space dishwashers right now. I dream about fitting 14 place settings in at once!
All in all I’d say it is definitely worth the money. If you’re like me, you don’t want to buy junk. Personally, I’d rather do without something than purchase a low-end model that will underwhelm with its performance, require repairs, and give out much sooner than it ought to.
Quality matters, because in the long run it pays off. And it doesn’t hurt if there’s a little love involved. This Bosch 500 Series is a dishwasher you can love.
